Judging by the latest Google Maps updates, this home, which was abandoned and subsequently abused by ruthless vandals, has finally been razed. It was accompanied by a barn, a chicken coop, a garage, and a rather impressive root cellar -- all of which I will be showing you as I dig through these pictures.
At least is no longer suffering from the indignity of time.
A peek down into a root cellar which looks like it might predate many of our modern electrical conveniences.
Or even this shot, from an as-yet-undiscussed adventure. (There's plenty of other material from this trip that I can't wait to share, but that'll have to wait for another day.)
I'm not sure if I would ever classify Oakton as being "farm" country, but there are certainly stretches of it that have quite a rural feel to it. Take, for instance, this gravel road, situated off of one of the busiest two-lane roads in the entire area.
If you look slightly southwest of this waypoint, you'll see someone that has a very impressive tree-lined driveway.
I don't know anything about the history of that particular property so far, but it definitely has an old-country feel to it.
