Okay, one last horrid shot from the Blackberry.
Here's a car dealership here in Tyson's Corner that's slated to be demolished. It only relates to "Rural" Fairfax in the sense that at the time it was built, way back around the 1960's, Tyson's Corner was just beginning its transformation from rural farmland into the busy urban corridor that it is today. And this dealership, built in the modernist architecture of the era, is a reminder of that vast transitional period.
Sometime in the very near future, it will be replaced by this bland monstrosity, which will conveniently be located right next to the new Metro station that's going in down that way.
All things must come to an end, no?
Hopefully, when the weather clears up, I can sneak on over there and get some detail shots of the architecture. It's not much to look at, but considering that it represents what the "cutting edge" artistry of the period was, I guess it's worth remembering.
